MARINEFOOD

Development of DNA-based procedures for the identification of fish and fish related products for use in food monitoring and import control

This project is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BLE) and administered by Projektträger Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung (ptble) under Work programme Innovationen zum Nachweis der Herkunft von Lebensmitteln, grant 2816503914

The proposed research project is based on the collaboration between different research institutions, namely the StarSEQ GmbH Mainz, the Thünen Institute for Fishery and Ecology, the Institute for Organismic and Molecular Evolutionary Biology (Workgroup Hankeln) of the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz and the Bavarian Health and Food Safety Authority. The goal is the development of a novel molecular genetic tool for the identification of food of marine origin by official food control agencies and import control.
